Running Tour of The Chicago Neighborhood Guidebook: Hegewisch

Chicago is a city that loves its pizza, and the far South Side Chicago neighborhood Hegewisch is home to Pudgy’s, an undeniable favorite. On this 3-mile tour led by Read & Run Chicago guide and historian Emily O’Keefe Davenport, we’ll explore the history, culture, and of course, pizza, of this neighborhood through the lens of Pudgy’s, inspired by Josh Burbridge’s essay, “Hegewisch: Pudgy’s Pizza,” published in The Chicago Neighborhood Guidebook, a collection of essays, poetry, photography and art edited by Martha Bayne that the Chicago Tribune wrote was a “far more honest guidebook.”

Following the route, we’ll end at Old Time Tap (13501 S. Brandon) for a post-run discussion with Emily, a drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic), and pizza from Pudgy’s, all included in your ticket.
