Running Tour of A Reason to Run

On this 3-mile, easy-paced book club run, we explore some of the real-life places that inspired the setting in La Grange native Mike Magluilo’s debut novel A Reason to Run. Set in a fictitious Chicago suburb, the book’s protagonist Sam Bagliarello finds new mental and physical strength through running after a bike accident. Readers get a glimpse into the transformative power of the sport, and anyone who loves running will find connection to the character’s journey.

During the route with by Read & Run Chicago Programs Manager Fernanda Wetzel and guest guide Pat Dwyer of West Town Brew Crew, we’ll stop at three different locations corresponding to the story and we’ll finish with light bites and a Q&A with author Mike Magluilo at Peak Running, where you’ll be able to meet the author, purchase your copy of A Reason to Run and other running titles from Anderson’s Bookshop, and socialize with other readers and runners.

Following the Q&A, readers and runners are invited to stay at Peak Running for a live podcast taping of Ten Junk Miles. Scotty Kummer will be interviewing Mike Magluilo, Pat Dwyer, and Fernanda Wetzel!
