About the event:
Join Read & Run Chicago and Black Girls Read Book Club at the King Branch of the Chicago Public Library for a three-mile (11:00 min/mile) Book Club Run through Bronzeville inspired by journalist Dawn Turner’s award-winning memoir, Three Girls From Bronzeville. The route is based on locations from Dawn’s childhood in Bronzeville detailed in the memoir. We’ll pass by her elementary school, apartment complex, and other notable sites and reflect on their importance in Turner’s coming of age.
Following the run, readers & runners will meet Dawn Turner.
As with all Book Club Runs, we strongly recommend you read Three Girls From Bronzeville prior to attending. Grab a copy from your local library branch or purchase from your favorite indie bookstore or online here through our Bookshop.org affilate page.
