Help Build the Founding Board of Read & Run Chicago

Routes are built by stories. Organizations are, too.

Since 2021, Read & Run Chicago has helped people connect with one another and with our city through movement and stories. Together, our community has explored Chicago’s neighborhoods, learned from local authors and experts, supported libraries, bookstores, and small businesses, and made space for curiosity, reflection, and belonging.

Now we’re entering an exciting new chapter. We’re moving forward with our nonprofit plans, applying for our first grants, growing our sponsorship outreach, rallying donor support, and preparing for our next fundraising drive. To help steward this growth, we’re building our first board.

We’re seeking seven to ten founding board members who believe that people matter, stories matter, curiosity matters, and understanding our city matters.

Board members will help shape the organization’s strategy and governance, strengthen fundraising and sponsorships, build partnerships, and connect Read & Run with people and opportunities that can help the community thrive.

We’re especially interested in people who bring experience or relationships in areas such as nonprofit leadership, fundraising, law, finance, community partnerships, marketing and communications, sponsorships, literacy, publishing, or movement and wellness.

Just as importantly, we’re looking for collaborative people who value listening, learning, and building a welcoming community.
