As an organization that celebrates public libraries, Read & Run Chicago is delighted to host free programming this summer in partnership with the Chicago Public Library at different branches across the city as part of their Summer 2026 programming “Chapters of Chicago.

Many readers & runners are enthralled that they can attend these events and work towards winning the coveted Chicago Public Library hat!

Calling all theater fans! Join Read & Run Chicago for a free evening on Tuesday, July 14 in collaboration with the Chicago Public Library featuring Maggie Andersen’s memoir, No Stars in Jefferson Park. The “Run + Book Club Discussion” includes a three-mile, 12:00/mile paced run to and from the Jefferson Park Branch Library and the former location of Gift Theater, of which author Maggie Andersen was a founding ensemble member. After the run, we’ll head back to the branch to discuss the book together—snacks included.

Run + Talk: Chicago’s Fine Arts Building

Calling all architecture and Chicago history fans! Join Read & Run Chicago for a free afternoon on Friday, August 21 in collaboration with the Chicago Public Library featuring Chicago's Fine Arts Buildingby Keir GraffWe’ll run a three-mile, 12:00/mile paced run to and from the Harold Washington Library with the opportunity to briefly enter the Fine Arts Building to see this history for yourself–and then head back to Harold Washington to hear a live Q&A with Keir Graff! If you plan to attend the Q&A with Keir Graff, please also register HERE.

Please Note: This run will leave from the 1st Floor Popular Library. The author discussion will occur in the 7th Floor Author's Room.
